Art Deco: this term comes from the designs of the 20's, 30's and early 40's. Lines were elegant, streamlined and angular. Vibrant colors were predominant. Neon, chrome and other metal furnishings, bakelite plastics and inlayed furniture were popular for the Art Deco period.
Art Nouveau: swirling, graceful lines, romantic in feel. Gustav Klimt represents the epitome of the feeling of this period with his sensual, gold-filled, patterned paintings.
Deep, saturated color palette. Art Deco often used dark, deep colors on walls: the black mixed with all the colors served to unite the color scheme. You can also pair this work with neutral colored walls. The work of Gustav Klimt adds grace and romance to the decor of a bedroom.
